Halloween Howl Workout 2008

For those of you who missed our Halloween Howl Workout, be sure to mark your calendars for next years event. This was a spooktacular circuit in which participants used pumpkins and broom sticks to complete there workout. This is our 3rd year holding the workout. Each year we have donated large amounts of food and clothing to the Union Gospel Mission. Participants were able to participate for free with a donation of canned food or clothing. Our fundraiser is held once a year for the Union Gospel Mission, however they can use donations from us throughout the year. If you have donations, please bring them to Ryan Vogt at the Court Club. Thanks and enjoy the slide show!

Amazing Group of Ladies!

Results Personal Training and the Tri-City Court Club had the privilege to host an amazing group of Ladies on Tuesday; September 30, 2008. The group came to the Club representing the Edith Bishel Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The Edith Bishel Center is a Non-profit organization dedicated to serving the blind and visually impaired in southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon. Their community outreach coordinator is Cynthia McCready.

After speaking with Cynthia about holding the event, we were very excited to be a part. We had eight wonderful women participate in a series of fitness tubing/body-weight exercises and a stretching routine.

That was not enough for this group...We then provided a tour of the Club and discussed what programs would best accommodate their physical challenges. And take our word for it, there is very little they could not do. Simply amazing!

Imagine doing everyday exercise routines and not being able to see what you are doing! These gals did a tremendous job! We finished with a nutrition discussion over a healthy lunch!

Take a look at our fun session together... If you know of anyone who is blind or visually impaired, we recommend you contact the Edith Bishel Center.

Summer's End Challenge 2008

Thanks to everyone who made our 4th Annual Summer's End Challenge an exciting event. Participants were given a variety of exercise options. They could walk, run or bike three or six miles, or compete in our first ever duathlon. Although there was some wet stuff falling out of the sky, we had more perspiration than precipitation. Great job to each the participants and to the staff that make this event a huge success. See you all next year.

Judi Hames started her training program in March, 2008. She has lost 40 pounds by making a complete lifestyle change. She participates in private and small group personal training. Her trainer also has her complete a weekly food journal. Judi would like to encourage all women to take time for themselves and workout. “If you’re stressed and unhealthy, then you’re not going to be able to take care of your loved ones very well anyway”, said Hames.

Breaking Through the Wall!

If you want to change something, you have got to change something! Makes sense, doesn't it? But change is difficult. Most people attempt major changes in their life without setting up a framework for success. How can you get anywhere without a map or a game plan?

Finding the motivation and inspiration to adhere to the changes in your life day-in, day-out, is challenging. Many people have very good intentions and start an exercise or healthy nutrition program, but within a few months 70 percent of them have dropped out. They could not find a reason to keep going. Much of being motivated boils down to associating pain with the situation you're in now – basically being "sick and tired of being sick and tired" – and associating pleasure with the situation you will be in once you achieve your goal. If you can develop these pain and pleasure sensations, you will pinpoint your personal motivation for exercise and healthy eating and you'll find it much easier to stick with the program. Here is a motivating story of a man by the name of Randy Pausch. My hope is that I am this motivated during my last lecture.

Remember that your goals have to be so important that you break through the barrier. You must have a positve attitude! Nothing can stop you!

Homework:

Write down all the pain you associate with being in your present situation.
For example: None of my clothes fit; I have no energy; My blood pressure has risen; I can't sit comfortably in chairs; I feel embarrassed to wear a bathing suit."

Write down all the pleasure you associate with achieving your goals.
For example: "I'll be able to wear whatever I want; My energy will improve; My blood pressure will drop; I'll be more productive at work; I'll feel more self-confident; I'll have enough energy to go hiking."
